FAQ
How discovery, Storefronts, availability, and account protections work today.
Getting started
What is Slap?
Slap helps you discover independent local food vendors, follow their Storefronts, and see what they are making and where they plan to be. A Storefront is the vendor's permanent business page.
Do I need an account to browse?
You can browse public Storefronts and discovery pages without an account. An account is needed for personal actions such as following a vendor, setting reminders, or applying as a vendor.
What is the difference between a Post, Drop, and Appearance?
A Post shares a vendor's update, photo, or video. A Drop is a limited offering with its own availability and, when supported, an ordering and pickup window. An Appearance is a place and time where the vendor plans to be. A Post can point to a Drop or Appearance; the operational details belong to the linked listing.
Is every Storefront run by its vendor?
Businesses apply to join Slap. After approval, the owner reviews and publishes their Storefront. Slap SIMS Storefronts are examples that show how Slap works. They do not offer real food or service.
How do I find food near me?
Use search, filters, and the Map. You can enter a place or allow device location. A vendor's displayed point may be approximate, so check its current listing before traveling.
Availability, orders, and trust
Does a reminder reserve food?
No. A reminder is a notice, not a reservation or inventory hold. Delivery can be delayed or fail. Confirm the vendor's current time, place, and availability before you go.
Can I pay or preorder through Slap today?
Live Slap checkout is not open. Approved pilot accounts may test sandbox Drops without a real charge or food order. If a vendor sends you to an external ordering site, that purchase is handled by the vendor and that provider under their terms.
What if a vendor sells out or moves?
The vendor is responsible for updating or ending the listing promptly. Follow the current listing and contact the vendor to confirm. Slap may send a requested change notice, but it cannot guarantee delivery or inventory. If you think there’s an issue, email help@onslap.com for help.
Are Vendors inspected or certified by Slap?
No. Application approval is not a food-safety inspection, license verification, or government endorsement. Each vendor is responsible for following the applicable state and local food-business guidelines and legal requirements wherever they operate, including permits, food handling, labeling, and listing allergens.
How do I ask about allergens or ingredients?
Contact the vendor directly before buying or eating. Slap does not prepare or test food, and a listing cannot replace a conversation about a serious allergy.
Can I leave a Review?
Slap labels a Review verified only when it has a reliable basis. The initial verified preorder path requires a completed Slap preorder; live paid ordering is not open yet. Do not create or exchange fake Reviews or fake activity.
What if an external order goes wrong?
Contact the vendor and the external ordering provider about payment, refunds, cancellation, delivery, or pickup. You can also report misleading Slap content, but Slap is not the seller or payment processor for an external order.
Drops and pickup
Can I place a paid Slap order today?
Live paid ordering through Slap is not open yet. These guidelines explain the supported Slap preorder flow. If you order on a vendor’s external site, that vendor and provider’s order, cancellation and refund terms apply.
How does a Drop work?
A Drop offers a limited quantity of food at a stated price. When Slap ordering is available, choose your Items and quantities, check the total and pickup details, then complete checkout. A reminder does not reserve food. Check your order confirmation before treating a preorder as confirmed.
What should I check before ordering?
Read the Item descriptions, available quantities, checkout total, cancellation cutoff, Pickup Window, public pickup location and instructions. Ask the vendor about ingredients or allergens before ordering. The Ordering Window is when you can place an order; the Pickup Window is when you collect it.
How do I collect my order?
Go to the confirmed pickup location during the Pickup Window, using your selected pickup time when one is shown. Have your order’s pickup QR or six-digit fallback code ready. Show it to the vendor at handoff and keep it private. Check the order’s instructions and any updates before traveling.
What happens if I do not pick up my order?
Contact the vendor as soon as you know you may miss pickup. A prepared order that is not collected has no automatic refund. The vendor may mark it not picked up only after the Drop’s full Pickup Window ends. An uncollected order does not qualify for a verified Review. If there was a problem, report it through your order before its displayed claim deadline.
What if I am running late?
Contact the vendor using the order or Storefront contact route. Do not assume collection outside the Pickup Window is available. If you cannot attend, check whether the cancellation cutoff has passed and contact support about any order problem.
Can I cancel or get a refund?
An eligible paid Slap order cancelled before its displayed cancellation cutoff receives a full refund. At or after the cutoff, cancellation is a support exception rather than an automatic refund. A vendor cancellation returns a full refund for affected paid Slap orders. Missing pickup alone does not trigger an automatic refund.
What if my food is missing, incorrect or unavailable?
Use Report a problem on your Slap order from the start of pickup through the claim deadline shown on the order. The Slap claim window ends 24 hours after the Drop’s full Pickup Window ends. Include what happened and relevant evidence. Support reviews the claim; submitting it does not guarantee a refund. For an external order, contact the vendor and ordering provider.
Your role
How should I use Slap responsibly?
Use accurate account and order details. Treat vendors and other customers respectfully. Do not create fake orders, Reviews or engagement, share another person’s private information, or post content you do not have permission to use. Report misleading or unsafe listings through the available report or contact controls.
What do follows, reminders and Reviews mean?
Following a vendor helps you keep up with their updates. A reminder does not reserve inventory, confirm an order or guarantee a notification will arrive. A verified Slap Review requires a completed, verified pickup. Check the current listing and order details yourself before traveling.
Account, privacy, and support
Who can create an account?
Customers must be at least 13. If you’re not yet an adult where you live, a parent or guardian needs to read the Terms with you and give permission to use Slap. You must be at least 18 to apply for and own a vendor account.
How do youth-driven businesses join Slap?
A parent or guardian who is at least 18 applies through their own account and takes responsibility for the business on Slap. They manage the Storefront and help the young person follow food-safety rules. Slap staff must review the setup before it goes public. Youth-driven businesses can share approved public-event locations, but not a home address or live GPS location. For help getting started, email help@onslap.com for help.
Will Slap publish my device location?
Your saved search point is private. With permission, Slap may use device location for nearby results. A vendor's public operating location can be exact or approximate; private home and preparation addresses should not be published.
How can I control reminders and notifications?
You can remove reminders or change notification settings in Slap. You can also turn browser notifications off in your browser or phone settings.
How do I report a safety, privacy, or rights concern?
Use an available report control or the contact form. Include the Storefront or Post and the concern. For immediate danger, contact emergency services first; Slap support is not an emergency response team.
How do I update my details or delete my account?
Update your details in account settings, or use the account-deletion page to delete your customer account. Contact Slap for help with business information or a privacy request. Some records may need to be kept to handle safety issues, resolve problems, or meet legal requirements. The Privacy Policy explains more.
Where can I read the rules?
Customer Guidelines explain Drops, pickup and order problems. Find the Terms, Privacy Policy, Vendor Guidelines, Community Guidelines and Copyright policy under Legal and community standards in Profile.
